Habitat for Humanity’s Love Cambodia 21 Project & How FUPART is here to Help.

FUPART is pleased to support Habitat for Humanity’s Love Cambodia 21 Project by contributing 50% of all our profit under our 50/50 scheme.

50/50 is the driving concept which FUPART will be based upon on any future projects. That is, any apparels purchased by you for yourself or your friends & family, will benefit humanity in one way or another.

So what is Love Cambodia 21 Project?

An excerpt from Habitat for Humanity Singapore:

“Habitat for Humanity Singapore is launching the Love Cambodia 21 to help raise funds and awareness for Habitat for Humanity Cambodia in aid of helping residents living at the Stung Meanchey Dumpsite in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Stung Meanchey Municipal Waste Dump is located in southern Phnom Penh, in Stung Meanchey district. The dump itself covers about approximately 6 hectares. About 200 odd families, consisting of 2,000 people, about 600 of which are children, live and work there.

The children and adults work for around USD $1 per day, by picking reusable or recyclable materials to sell. It is appalling to know that families pay USD 40 a month for the rent of a dilapidated and rundown shelter, unfiltered water and electricity.

The living conditions of the place are deplorable. The toxic smoke given off by the burning rubbish, and the poor sanitation and hygiene conditions often cause health hazards and diseases to the people living there. Additionally, a number of children work in the place barefoot and are exposed risk of biohazards such as being pricked by used syringe needles which spead HIV and other viruses.

Habitat for Humanity Cambodia aims to provide housing solutions to 21 families who are residing at the dumpsite. These families have taken the initiative to secure the land with the aid of an Australian NGO. HFH intends to help these families with the following:
• 21 brick houses
• Micro-loans to the families
• Sanitation with flush latrines
• Rainwater catchment
• Water pumps
• Electrical connection from government supplies instead of generators
• Facilitate job opportunities in the nearby garment factory (3 km from the site)
• Leverage on existing job skills they practiced at the dump site (e.g. shoe repair).
• Establish a small tourist oriented business near a nearby Buddhist temple which attracts a lot of tourists
• Possibility of using nearby land for gardening.
• Fishing at the nearby lake
A total of $410 000 (SGD) needs to be raised for this project. ”

Things are going a little slow, sales, updates and new t-shirts. But while things are creeping slow, there’s still little stuffs getting done on the way.

Looking on the bright side, the theme, designs and stuffs are all more or less settled for the next batch. It’s a very exciting package and we already have a release date in mind, however we need some confirmation from suppliers to kickstart everything.

Other than that, everything is moving slowly, but surely, we are coming up with more rocking stuffs up our sleeves. So keep supporting us and keep the orders coming!

BACK from MAAD. Decision to EXTEND VALENTINE’s DAY PROMOTION!

Just came back from 2 days of MAAD-ness and yes i am back on track some construction and maintainence for these following 2 weeks.

Before we get to that, we’ve made a decision, to extend our PROMOTION for Valentine’s Day offer!

It will be extended by 4 days! To 12 Feb 2009!

YES! It’s 10% OFF STOREWIDE, with FREE HANDLING too!

Rest assure though, by customers feedbacks, it takes only 1 to 2 days to receive your stuffs by post!! So even on the last day of promotion, you will get it in time for Vday, if you need it for Vday!

Okay, back to the “construction and maintainence” part.. Here’s what i gonna and have to do..

1) Conceptualise and finalise designs for our next collection.
2) blog UPDATEs on our FLEA.FLY.FLO.FUNxI.AM.DAVID.SPARKLE flea market and MAAD experience! Tons of nice stuffs assured!
3) Construction of a new site which will come online together with the next collection.

Yeah, that’s all.. for now!

FUP’s First FLEA @ Home Club on THIS Saturday, 31st JAN, 2pm to 9.30pm!

Yes, it’s been a while since i update this blog. Been preparing for the above flea! Our first ever and we hope to get a good response from the public! If you are dropping by tomorrow, remember to drop by our booth, give us a look and say hi!

Here’s what i’ve been up to recently..
1) Getting to some more fleas, hopefully i will get a space at MAAD next weekend!
2) Linking up with other suppliers to try to look at a wider variety of T-shirts for the next batch of designs!
3) Starting to conceptualize the next series of designs. I am thinking that it should be out by late May.

Other than that, i am quite excited about tomorrow’s flea and hope you guys(those who are seeing this) will drop by and say hi!

The other piece of news is that, we will be at Home Club on 31st JAN!
Here’s the details…

Flea.Fly.Flo.Fun will be supporting Singapore’s band – I Am David Sparkle,
in their benefit show to raise funds as they’ve been invited to play in USA!

Along side the flea market, there will be bands jamming all day long!
There will be DJ sets running through till 3am as well.
Let’s show some love to our local heroes!

Date/Time: 31st Jan 2009, 2pm – 12mn. (Bands and DJs, 3pm – 3am)

FUP Full Launch DELAYED, Here’s WHY. The Good and Bad as a result of the DELAY.

Status: PRE-LAUNCH

Yes we are having at least a week of delay of launch. Which means we will be extending the launch by a week more from 5/01/2009.

The good thing is, the 20% offer for the first T-Shirt design still stands will be extended by one week since it’s still in PRE-LAUNCH period. So if ya shopping for CNY clothings do give us a look

The bad thing is, we can’t wait to release the 3 other designs! And we need to wait for a week more as there’s problem with the printer. Due to the policy of getting involved in the process, our printer foresee that thee may be some problems with the printings, so they are asking us to go down next week to check out the samples when they do a test print on some blank T-Shirts. This is fine, as we also require the best in quality of the prints and keep the similarity alike to the design and our intended design.
Well so, because of this process, they are still in the midst of preparing the artworks for printing(a pain-in-the-ass process) and will get back to me by early next week. I told them to give me some piority too.

So, i hope everything’s gonna go well and nice.

What’s Going On at FUP and Our Current LIMITATIONS.

CURRENT STATUS: PRE-LAUNCH
ESTIMATED WEEKS TO FULL LAUNCH: 1 WEEK

Well, we are still waiting for our 3 printing works which we outsourced to a trustable local printer. Have been communicating with them throughout the process such that to correct whatever that is required and bring the best print to buyers. While the printing is outsourced, we involve ourselves very much into the process, from working with the printers in editing the designs to make it suitable for prints. It’s not an easy process as printing T-Shirts is not as easy as it seems. sometimes, printers only have a range of PANTONE colours and there’s also the finest of the design in printing. Halftoning it and stuffs .. blah blah.. i shan’t bother you with the technical aspects.

But we believe in involving ourselves in the process as much as possible with our printer.

We couldn’t really print by ourselves YET, because we are still a small startup and we are still learning in the process. But the main reason is that, we are actually very much constrained by the pigeon holes of Singapore estates and thus does not have the required space to explore printing ourselves. But when we do get better and hopefully our business is able to sustain in the longer run, we will definitely explore the possibility of setting up our own printing by leasing out spaces.
